Meet Brandon Shaw, Director of Athletics

December 6th, 2022

Brandon met his wife, Shellie, 21 years ago at the age 20. Committing to her at that age was honestly one of the easiest decisions Brandon has ever made. Shellie and Brandon are the parents of two amazing boys (Benjamin, 18, and Aiden, 13). Brandon believes God has placed these particular people on this earth just for him.

In his free time, Brandon loves spending time with his family. The Shaws are usually at a live sporting event, traveling, enjoying a perfectly timed nap, or eating amazing food.

Brandon is passionate about his church, his family and friends, and his work at Pacifica. Brandon loves what he does and who he does it for. He believes the things that he is passionate about aren’t random; they are his calling.

Brandon believes that Pacifica chose him. Pacifica has given him a higher purpose and a belonging that he was searching for after competing professionally. He chooses Pacifica now because of the kids, the relationships, and his passion for what he sees is possible. Brandon loves the mission and vision of Pacifica as a place of community, learning, togetherness, and purpose.

Coaching is a passion for Brandon, who believes coaching is a form of teaching. Brandon enjoys pushing the limits of what an athlete believes is achievable. There is no other feeling quite like helping young athletes further develop natural persistence, determination, discipline, dedication, resiliency, work ethic, heart, leadership skills, and respect for others, not only in competition but in life. As a coach, Brandon wants to win games, but more importantly, he wants to impact lives.

Brandon studied at Azusa Pacific University, majoring in sociology. He is a longtime member of St. Stephen Baptist Church in La Puente.
