Q&A with Sebastian, Pacifica Senior

December 9th, 2022

What do you love most about Pacifica?
When speaking on what I love about Pacifica, I couldn’t go without mentioning the open dialogue and honest communication and relationships between students and staff. Having the ability to be honest and share your point of view is something I have always loved.

What is one word that best describes the school?
“Together” because the school is well organized, there’s a great sense of community, and unity to achieve great things.

Describe one of your favorite teachers and the impact that this person has had in your life.
One of my favorite teachers is Mr. McCurdy because he has lived across the world and welcomes and brings new ideas, ways of thinking and diverse perspectives to the classroom.

Why did you decide to attend Pacifica?
FIT! Faith, Intellect, and Trust. In my opinion a good school starts off with Faith and the community, support of your intellectual pursuits, and your ability to improve your talents, no matter what they are. At Pacifica I am able to pursue Chinese, play golf, surf, and explore philosophy in a trustworthy environment that starts from the top. Pacifica was the right fit for me, so I chose it.

How is Pacifica distinctly a Christian school and why is this important to you?
Pacifica seeks to live out the words of Jesus through mass, great teachings and living in the footsteps of God. I feel it is important because you know you can count on anyone in the community to be your advocate or advisor when you need it most.

In what ways is Pacifica preparing you for college and beyond?
Pacifica supports you in one of the most important times in your life,  your development from young adult to independent adult. All of the leadership works to help you personally grow to develop your skills to be successful in life and learning. College prep starts day one when you know you are going to college and is supported with curriculum design, college planning, exploration and celebration when you have chosen to pursue even higher learning at great schools.

What would you tell a friend to encourage them to consider Pacifica?
Pacifica, it’s all in the community. Attend as many events as you can. Trust your gut and you will see the community is what makes Pacifica most important to me.
