Homecoming 2024 Recap

January 9th, 2024

Pacifica Homecoming 2024 was one to remember! From pep rallies, to the boat dance, to game day, and more– check out all of our Hoco highlights here.

Spirit Week

Students jumped directly into Spirit Week after returning from Christmas break with dress-up days, lunchtime activities, and a pep rally to prepare for the weekend festivities. Wednesday’s dress-up day was ‘Rhyme Without Reason,’ where students paired up as different rhyming words or phrases. Some memorable duos were ‘Cleaning Lady’ + ‘Slim Shady,’ ‘Tennis Pro + Frat Bro,’ and ‘Rapper + Napper.’ During lunch, staff members were subjected to the dunk tank, where students in costume had more opportunities to try and drench their teachers. Even our Head of School, Mr. Knight, got dunked!

Thursday’s theme was ‘Decades Day.’ Each grade was given a decade to dress in, spanning from the 70’s to the 00’s. This Spirit Day was also paired with poster-making in the gym at lunch in preparation for Game Day.

Friday was Spirit Day! Students, faculty, and staff donned their best blue and green attire for the Seawolf Luncheon and Homecoming Pep Rally. During the pep rally, each winter sports team was announced and celebrated by the crowd, in addition to a great performance by the Dance Team. Lastly, we held the ring ceremony for our Boy’s Volleyball team, who claimed the CIF Southern Section title last spring.

Seawolf Luncheon

Amidst the pep rally and spirit activities on Friday, the main event was our Seawolf Luncheon. Several members of the original Seawolf veterans spent the afternoon on campus, first for a presentation to the student body and then to connect with staff and students over lunch. Some of the veterans even flew in from out of town for the event! Students watched videos telling the history of the Seawolves, and then engaged in a Q&A with the vets about their experiences. Much of the conversation surrounded the strong brotherhood between the men who served as Seawolves, as well as their commitment to honor. It was clear that students were deeply appreciative of their service and presence at our school, and that the veterans were excited to speak with them as well. Many staff members at Pacifica have mentioned this as the “highlight of the week.”

Boat Dance

Friday night, our students danced the night away at our incredible Homecoming Boat Dance. Sparkles, ruffles, and bowties were all around as they filed onto the four story FantaSea Yacht in Marina Del Rey. Whether students were on level one lounging on couches and using the photo booth, level two snacking on cupcakes, level three tearing up the dance floor, or the rooftop to get some air, everyone had a night to remember.

Game Day

We kicked off Game Day with Girls Soccer against New Roads, where our Lady Seawolves put up a good fight with only one substitute for the game and ended up with a close loss of 1-2. Boys Soccer took the field next with a victory of 4-1 over New Roads. At the same time, Boys JV Basketball was battling it out inside the gym against Valley Christian, emerging victorious. Girls Basketball was up next, and took the win against Faith Baptist with a score of 52-39.

As fans enjoyed snacks from the food truck and parents gathered in the PPA Hospitality Corner for drinks, excitement began to build in anticipation of the main event. Before the Varisty game, we announced the king and queen of our 2024 Homecoming Court: Zane Worth and Mikayla Moynihan! They were recognized alongside the winning courts of lower grades– Beck Ervin and Sophia Ahrablou nominated by the freshman class, Annika Buford and Terrence Thomas for the sophomores, and Grace D’Nelly and Hunter Burkett as representatives for the junior class. The Seawolf veterans were honored in front of the crowd, and our Wolf PACappella team sang a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem.

Then, the game was on! Our Varsity Basketball Seawolves took the court against Santa Clarita Christian with energy and excitement, making a three pointer in the first play of the game which triggered a shower of blue streamers from the audience. In addition to an impressive halftime performance from our Dance Team, the game was a booming victory with a Seawolf win of 84-38. Thank you for celebrating Pacifica Hoco 2024 with us!
