Hilary Miller, Teacher of the Year

June 29th, 2023

At our annual Senior Dinner, one teacher is presented with the Faculty of the Year Award to celebrate their dedication and excellence in the classroom. This year, the award went to one of Pacifica’s amazing English teachers, Hilary Miller. Ms. Miller is known for her energetic and zealous attitude towards literature, which overflows to her students. She seeks to create genuine understanding in her classroom through unique assignments, diligent organization, and a willingness to help each and every student. We are extremely blessed to have a teacher like Hilary on our campus, and know that this award is well deserved.

This past academic year, Hilary taught a total of six classes while leading the Humanities Department at Pacifica. Amidst this busy schedule, she has continued to model our school’s virtues of grace and truth.

Associate Head of School for Academics Rachael Nyabadza said this about Ms. Miller:

“I’ve been personally touched by Hilary’s strength and perseverance this year. Her resiliency and hope in the midst of unforeseen difficulty is truly inspiring. In her teaching and relationships, she models the Christlike qualities of both grace and truth, which is testament to her deeply-rooted and thoughtful faith. I appreciate and admire how Hilary advocates for others, both her students and her colleagues. She is an absolute joy and blessing to Pacifica.”

The Pacifica community also had the opportunity to hear Ms. Miller give the Faculty Address at our 2023 Commencement Ceremony. Her connection to the graduating class is evident in the personal anecdotes and joy throughout her speech, which can be viewed below.
