Carrying the Seawolf Legacy Forward: Jenna Kim ’26 Honors Our Veterans
January 16th, 2026
Each year, Pacifica Christian gathers for the Seawolf Luncheon, a cherished tradition honoring the Vietnam War veterans whose service inspired our Seawolf name and spirit. At this year’s luncheon, Associated Student Government President Jenna Kim ’26 offered a moving reflection on the meaning of the Seawolf legacy, the freedoms students experience today, and the responsibility of carrying that legacy forward with gratitude and purpose. Her words remind our community that the Seawolf identity is not simply a symbol, but a living testament to courage, sacrifice, and brotherhood.
We invite your to read Jenna’s full address below, delivered at the annual Seawolf Luncheon.
"Good afternoon to our honored Seawolves veterans, faculty, families, and fellow students.

It is truly a privilege to stand before you today. We are gathered not just for a luncheon, but for a gathering of remembrance, gratitude, and connection — a moment to honor those whose service reaches far beyond history books and into the very identity of Pacifica Christian.
As students, we move through our days with a sense of routine and comfort. As Freshman, we nervously attend Old Testament classes, Sophomores to the WolfShack with friends, Juniors cheering at Homecoming games, we become Seniors who plan for our futures. These moments and seasons feel ordinary to us, like milestones ensured: but today reminds me that they are anything but guaranteed. They exist because of the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who came before us. They exist because of our Seawolf veterans.
The name 'Seawolves' is not just a mascot stitched onto our coolest hoodies or printed on our banners. It represents a brotherhood forged in courage, loyalty, and sacrifice. It represents men who flew into danger not for recognition, but for one another, for the country they served, and for us. When our school chose the Seawolves as our mascot, it was not to adopt an image of strength, but to honor real strength — the kind built through service, perseverance, humility, and unity.

What makes today especially meaningful is knowing that many of you returned home from your service without the recognition you deserved. There were no parades, no celebrations, and often, no words of thanks. That history makes this gathering even more important and essential. Today is about recognition — not just of what you did, but of who you are and what your service continues to mean for our generation.
As a student, I realize that the freedoms I enjoy—the ability to learn, to speak openly, and to dream boldly—are built on sacrifices I may never fully understand. And as part of an immigrant family, I’m especially aware that the sense of belonging, opportunity, and security my family has found in this country is also rooted in that sacrifice. But I can acknowledge them. And I can choose not to take them for granted. Your service reminds us that courage doesn’t always look like grand gestures; sometimes it looks like simple commitment, brotherhood, and doing what must be done, even when you’re not recognised for it.
Your legacy lives on here — not just in our school’s name, but in the values we strive to uphold. This year, our Homecoming Court was nominated for the virtues you have exemplified for us: Freshman Courage. Sophomore Integrity. Junior Compassion. And Senior Humility. These are not just student ideals for this week; they are the Seawolves’ legacy, life lessons we as students and growing adults will forever engage in. They remind us to stand by one another, to act with purpose, and to serve something greater than ourselves.
On behalf of the students of this school, thank you for your bravery. Thank you for your sacrifices. Thank you for the freedoms we experience every day — often without realizing how precious they truly are.
Pacifica, as we close out this week of Homecoming festivities, let us remind each other of the purpose of Pacifica’s Homecoming: to honor the homecoming of the Seawolves, honoring their service not just through words and communion today, but in remembrance always: in our thoughts, actions, and prayers, fueled by courage, integrity, compassion, and humility.
Veterans, we are honored by your presence. We are grateful for your service. And we carry your legacy forward with pride. Thank you."
Jenna’s remarks capture the heart of the Seawolf Luncheon: remembrance, gratitude, and connection across generations. As our community continues to celebrate Homecoming and the homecoming of the Seawolves themselves, her words stand as a reminder that the values of courage, integrity, compassion, and humility are not only honored in tradition, but lived out daily by the students who carry the Seawolf name.
