Meet Michael Weaver, Humanities Teacher

October 31st, 2025

Pacifica Christian is thrilled to welcome Michael Weaver, who joins our Humanities Department teaching History, Theology, and English. With a deep love for learning and a heart for mentoring students, Michael embodies the thoughtful, curious spirit that defines Pacifica.

Michael’s educational journey began at Hillsdale College, where he studied biblical and church history as well as classical education—with one clear goal in mind: to teach at a school like Pacifica. “I studied biblical and church history, as well as classical education, at Hillsdale College, with the aim of teaching at Pacifica Christian,” he shares. Before entering the classroom, Michael worked in construction, gaining valuable perspective before stepping into his calling as an educator.

When asked what shaped his approach to learning, Michael offers a simple but profound truth: “Humans learn best when we are able to wonder at and love a thing.” That belief informs the way he teaches—inviting students to slow down, ask big questions, and see beauty in the world of ideas.

Michael’s faith journey also plays a central role in his life and teaching. Though raised in a Christian home, his faith became personal during high school. “Through conversations with teachers and fellow students, I found the eternal purpose for which I was created,” he says. “As such, I consider it the greatest privilege to be a teacher, to have conversations with students, hoping that Christ might reveal Himself further.”

At Pacifica, Michael is most looking forward to building the kind of meaningful teacher-student relationships that make this community so distinctive. He hopes his students leave his class not only with sharpened minds but also with a deeper love of learning. “I hope for them to love learning and to pursue their specific academic passion while still retaining a greater admiration for the beauty of the whole liberal arts.”

Outside the classroom, Michael lives life to the fullest. He loves to surf, mountain climb, and play nearly any sport—rugby, pickleball, tennis, or basketball—but most of all, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Evelyne, and their one-year-old son, Clay. High school sweethearts, Michael and Evelyne have lived in Tours, France; Hillsdale, Michigan; and Long Beach before settling in Santa Monica, where they now call Pacifica home.

We’re delighted to have Michael Weaver on the Pacifica team and look forward to the curiosity, wisdom, and joy he’ll bring to our classrooms and community.
