Pacifica Travel Announces 2021 Destination: Germany / Czech Republic

Scott Comer
Pacifica Christian High School is excited to announce the 2021 trip to Central Europe featuring the countries of Germany, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland.

This is not only an adventure with new sights, sounds and flavors, but an excellent complement to Pacifica’s curriculum, allowing students to consider three conflicts that have shaped the Western World and comprise portions of their sophomore and Junior History classes. In Germany, the students confront both the consequences of Germany’s defeat in World War II and the Cold War that followed while in the Czech Republic, the students visit the site of the Defenestration of Prague which started the Thirty Years War.

The trip is not merely a meditation on war and its consequences; it is visual feast of architecture and art. The students spend time in Cesky Krumlov, a medieval site adorned with Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture and later tour the Romanesque Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria. The trip concludes with time in Lucerne, Switzerland where the beauties of nature are combined with medieval and modern architecture. As on the 2016 tour, Pacifica students can ponder mankind's complexity, juxtaposing it at its most brutal and its beautiful.
