Studio Arts

Pacifica’s studio art courses offer students a comprehensive art experience through the development of skills in concept creation and various mediums such as drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, and installation art.

Through class discussions, critiques, and exhibitions students expand their understanding of artistic choices, visual literacy and final outcomes.

Our students explore a wide variety of visual expressions, honing their critical eye and engaging in the discussion of “what is the purpose of art?” and “what makes something a piece of art?”

Studio Art Gallery Shows

Students have the opportunity to participate in the development of and submit original pieces to two gallery shows each year. In February, Pacifica hosts its Winter Art Gallery at the Santa Monica Art Studios. At the end of the year, studio art students display their work at the annual iSight Festival.
