Spring Sports Have Begun!

April 10, 2017 | by Casi Ticer

This season is starting off excellent! The Track team went off to Vegas to compete against incredible teams and the Boy’s Volleyball team and Baseball team traveled to Carpenteria to play our annual games against the Cate School.

TrackOver spring break, Pacifica’s Varsity Track teams competed at the Las Vegas Track Classic Competition. This was a great opportunity to hit the road as a team and compete in a different state against very strong opponents from Nevada. Pacifica’s track stars were able to travel and stay three nights at the Rio Hotel. This trip was full of laughs, games, team meals, and racing. With very few athletes doing individual events, our focus was to compete in mainly relay races where the guy’s and girl’s teams had to compete together in each event.

It was amazing to travel and watch our Seawolves compete as a team and encourage one another in the two day meets. It was also great to see the bonding connection that occurred during the car rides, card games, dinners, and competitions. This proved to be a phenomenal experience not only for the athletes, but also for the coaches.

When the baseball team played against the Cate School, they beat them 9 – 3. Junior Andy Ambriz and senior Tyler Hicks combined pitching duties to give up only six hits. With the win, the team improved their record to 5 – 1.

Once the baseball game was over, the team hurried over to Cate’s gym to cheer on the volleyball team. The match was a thriller that went on to five sets. Sophomores Kenny Minchin and Alex Knight dominated as setter and hitter, they eventually put the match away.

Both teams went back to their hotel and had a surprise pizza party and got to celebrate their victories. The next day the teams had a pancake breakfast and then went to the beach. They enjoyed the view, talked about their goals for the rest of the season, ad had separate meetings. They had a wonderful time increasing their team bonding.

ca_pacifica_christian_high_schoolSo far this season, the Boys Baseball has a record of 7-2 for their season and a 1-1 in their league with the most recent 12-0 win over Milken. They did suffer a heartbreaking loss of 4-3 against Windward High School, but with a game that close, it was a game to be truly proud of!

The Boy’s Volleyball has a remarkable record of 9-0. With victories over Campbell Hall, Brentwood, and Beverly Hills High School. They just finished in 3rd place for the Milken tournament.
