The School
• Pacifica is a four-year college preparatory, coeducational, school with an enrollment of 160 students. The school was founded in the fall of 2005 and is the only independent Christian high school on the Westside of Los Angeles. There are currently 30 seniors, 35 juniors, 40 sophomores and 55 freshman attending Pacifica . We anticipate enrollment to grow to 180 students in the fall of 2009.

Pacifica is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and is a member of the College Board, ASCI, the ERB and CIF.

Admissions
• For the academic year 2008-2009, Pacifica enrolled 70 new students. We anticipate enrolling 50 new students for the 2009-2010 school year.

Class Size
• The student teacher ratio at Pacifica is 8 to 1 and most classes have 14-16 students per class.

The Faculty
• The Pacifica faculty and administration includes 20 full and part-time members. 85% of the faculty have their Master’s Degree.

Diploma Requirements
• Minimum diploma requirements at Pacifica include: English 4 years; Mathematics 3 years (Minimum of Algebra I, II and Geometry); Science 3 years (Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics, A.P. Biology); History 4 years; Language 2 years (Spanish or Latin); Theology 2 years (Introduction to the Bible and Church History); Visual and Performing Arts 1 year; Physical Education 2 years.

Advanced Placement offerings include World History, American History, U.S. Government, American Literature, Language and Composition, Spanish Language, Spanish Literature, Biology, Calculus and Statistics

What is the cost of tuition at Pacifica?
• Tuition for the 2009-2010 school year is $16,400.

Are there other fees besides tuition?
• Additional fees include books ($400-700) and uniforms ($200-400).

Does Pacifica offer financial aid?
• In our pursuit to be a school for all families, Pacifica offers financial aid to students based on their financial need. Pacifica gave out $500,000 in financial aid for the 2008-2009 school year.

Who is a Pacifica student?
• Pacifica students come from Christian and other church affiliated schools, independent schools and public schools. They represent a variety of ethnic, economic and religious backgrounds. Pacifica draws students from communities across the Los Angeles area. Pacifica students are those of character and faith who are committed to academic, athletic, and artistic excellence.

What do you look for when admitting students to Pacifica?
• Pacifica evaluates the entire student when reviewing an application for admission. We take into consideration all areas of the application process when determining if the applicant is a good fit for Pacifica.

Our admissions committee considers:

o Academic achievement in grades 6, 7, and 8.
o Leadership and extracurricular involvement.
o Teacher and administrative recommendations.
o Entrance examination (ISEE).
o Standardized testing in grades 6, 7, and 8.
o Student/parent interview.

Do you accept transfer students?
• Students are accepted for grades 9, 10, and 11 if space is permitting. We do not consider transfer students for grade 12.

How do students commute to and from Pacifica each day?
• Students use car pools to and from school. We provide a zip code list to families each fall to help parents and students to locate each other by geographic areas. Students come from all over Los Angeles area including Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, San Fernando Valley, Westchester, Culver City, Beverly Hills, Inglewood, Venice, Marina Del Rey, and Play Del Rey.

How can I visit Pacifica?

When will I be notified about admission and financial aid?
• Admissions letters are mailed by March 15th to candidates who complete the application process by February 1. Financial Aid letters are mailed by March 31st. Families must officially enroll by April 15th.
