Athletics

Pacifica has developed a championship athletic program devoted to encouraging excellence on the court or field and in life.  Pacifica challenges athletes who are new to a sport and athletes who are at the top of their game. Pacifica athletes have both opportunity and ownership. The goal is to provide each student a chance to grow in athletic skill, experience competition, and benefit from the camaraderie that comes with participating in high school sports. Our student athletes make memories that are long lasting and meaningful.

In addition, the athletic program offers a travel component so that students may expand their horizons, meet students from different areas and spend time away from their normal surroundings. Taking the cross country team for a meet at Stanford, the Volleyball team to La Jolla, out to Palm Springs with the Basketball teams or up to Santa Barbara with the Baseball team adds energy and excitement to the season.

Competitive

Pacifica strives to maintain competitive teams across every sport. Pacifica teams are consistently ranked in the top ten of their division, competing for league and CIF titles. Each year, the program claims several all-league and all-CIF athletes. During the 2014-2015 school year, 7 of our 13 varsity teams won league titles. The secret to our success are the coaches we employ. We invest a great deal of time researching, interviewing and training the best coaches. Our coaches are at the top of their field in training athletes to improve and be successful.

Inclusive

Our athletic department strives to work with athletes of all abilities. Pacifica coaches are passionate about caring and showing attention to each and every athlete they have the privilege to coach. Therefore, in many of our teams, we offer several levels of athletics with Frosh/Soph teams, JV teams, and Varsity teams, making room for every athlete.

Change

Pacifica coaches invests in each of their athletes to help them mature in more than just athletic skill. It is a four-year process where each athlete is encouraged in their strengths and challenged in their weaknesses. We put coaches in place to be able to help each develop in all areas of their life.

Community

A core value of Pacifica athletics is to change and improve the community. Our mascot (the Seawolves) comes from a military unit from the Vietnam War. Our athletes have ongoing interactions with these veterans. Our athletic department has been able to use this relationship to enlighten people about the experience of military veterans. Pacifica also uses the Venice Beach Outdoor Classic as way of bringing awareness to the plight of homelessness and to be able to help those in need.

Pacifica Athletics

Kevin Kelsey

Pacifica athletics aim to challenge our student athletes to grow and develop into mature young men and women. Pacifica coaches are experienced in taking athletes of every level and making significant improvements in their skill level. They have a proven track record and are informed as to how to prepare athletes to get the most out of their high school experience. They are able, if it is the student's desire, to help them play at the collegiate level. Our athletic department brings the school community together. Whether it be big home games, or traveling with the team to playoff games throughout Southern California, it is our goal to promote camaraderie and school spirit.
