Each academic department at Pacifica is closely aligned with other departments in the school. Our interdisciplinary approach deepens each studentʻs familiarity with the material and creates a broad context for learning. In addition, it brings faculty together in a collaborative process whereby teachers understand and know the breadth and depth of a studentʻs education.

The capstone project, completed during the senior year, is a research project and class presentation that requires students to integrate their research from multiple disciplines. Students are asked to demonstrate mastery from all four years of high school.

Anna Shakeshaft

“In my studies at Pacifica I read original works from Homer, Plato, Augustine, Pascal, Locke to Jefferson and Lincoln. I was challenged to think deeply and broadly about the world and communicate at a high level in both written and verbal form. As a freshman I took oral finals and participated in Socratic Dialogues. As a senior I completed a research project and taught my peers in class for two days. This was all enriched through my school trip to Malawi Africa where we served in an aids clinic and orphanage. My Pacifica education paved the way for my life at USC.”
