Mission The
role of the College Counseling department at Pacifica is to facilitate the
successful navigation of the college exploration, preparation and admissions
process for students and their families, with deliberate focus on fulfilling
God's purpose for their lives. Vision 1. To inform and educate
students and their parents on their expansive college choices and to help them
to balance their list of colleges to find appropriate college matches. 2. To partner with families to
make sure students and families have similar goals. To endeavor to make sure
that Pacifica Seniors attend a 4 year university. 3. To enable the majority of
Pacifica Seniors to get admitted to their 1 st or 2 nd college choice. 4. To inform students of college
testing requirements and to administer tests as appropriate. 5. To provide students with test
preparation resources and opportunities to help interpret test results and how
they influence the college application process. 6. To serve as ambassadors of
Pacifica Christian High School to the college admission profession. 7. To be knowledgeable
professionals on athletic, academic, and visual & performing arts colleges.
8. To help students select
courses representing a balanced class choice allowing for maximum success and
maximum challenge. 9. To provide relevant and
frequent college information programming and communication to serve both
parents and students throughout all four years at Pacifica . 10. To work with faculty to enhance academic support in the
classroom for college testing and performance. 11. To build relationships with students by extracurricular
involvement and individual meetings. 12. To meet with every high school student at least once each
year. 13. To provide a godly role model for students and families so
that they observe that God has a definitive plan for their lives as promised in
Jeremiah 29:11: "'For I know the plans I have for you,'
declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you
hope and a future.'" 14. Pacifica
will seek and participate in Professional Development activities that provide
depth and breadth to their body of knowledge about the college admission
process.
